A new NBC News / Wall Street Journal Poll shows big trouble for the recently sworn-in Speaker of the House; revealing Nancy Pelosi’s approval ratings significantly dropped after the five-week long government shutdown.
“Pelosi’s approval rate dropped by six points during the 35-day government shutdown, as 47 percent of Americans surveyed rated Pelosi as ‘very negative,’ while only 28 percent rated her favorably,” writes the Daily Caller.
“President Trump’s standing among Americans remained effectively unchanged even as he presided over the longest partial government shutdown in U.S. history, the latest example of how his unusual brand of politics has resonated with a strong core of supporters,” adds the survey.
The poll comes just days before Speaker Pelosi and Congressional Democrats face a hard-deadline to pass a bipartisan budget agreement; setting the stage for another potential shutdown should they fail to fully fund the president’s border security proposals.

DEAR NANCY: Wives of Border Patrol Agents Invite Speaker Pelosi to Tour Border Towns
A group of Border Patrol wives officially invited House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to personally tour a series of Texas towns this week; saying they would like to “cordially invite you to come to McAllen, TX as President Trump did.”
“We the WIVES OF THE RGV (Rio Grande Valley) BP (Border Patrol) would like to cordially invite you to come visit McAllen, TX as President Trump did. It appears you are not busy today or any day, until Tuesday when you will return from your 4 day vacation,” posted the group on social media last Thursday -one day before the end of the longest government shutdown in American history.
“We’d also appreciate if you’d stop pretending that you care about federal workers. If you did, you would care for their safety, not just their paychecks. We can hold out a while longer if it means our husbands and communities are safer,” added the statement.
“I felt it’s really important to have our leaders come here and see what’s happening first. It’s important to meet with the people who are here on a daily basis, that are witnessing it – the effects of it, that it has on our country,” one of the wives told Fox News.

DEMS DENIED! White House Says Congress Can’t Use ‘Government Aircraft’ During Shutdown
A letter released from the Office of Budget Management Friday confirmed members of Congress are prohibited from using “government aircraft” during a federal shutdown; saying all legislators and their staff need “White House approval” for air travel.
“In light of the current partial government shutdown, the President has asked me to direct the heads of all executive departments and agencies of the Administration on new policies in support of Legislative Branch travel,” reads the statement.

“Under no circumstances during a government shutdown will any government owned, rented, leased, or chartered aircraft support any Congressional delegation, without the express written approval of the White House Chief of Staff,” adds the letter.
The statement comes hours after President Trump abruptly canceled Speaker Pelosi’s overseas trip; demanding the Democratic leader remain in Washington and re-open the federal government.
