MITCH Says ENOUGH: McConnell ‘Concerned’ Some Teachers ‘Denigrating’ American Historical Events

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.02.21

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters Wednesday he’s “concerned” that some teachers in the United States are now “denigrating” American historical events in public schools.

“I am concerned about efforts to kind of downplay significant items in American history have been extremely important,” McConnell told reporters Wednesday at an event in Shelbyville, Ky.

“I think trying to completely denigrate and downgrade American historical moments like 1776, 1787 [and] 1965 –  critical moments – is a mistake,” McConnell said. “But I don’t think the government’s any better at prescribing what ought to be taught, than the universities themselves, but they ought to be open to criticism about what they’re doing.”

“Americans do not need or want their tax dollars diverted from promoting the principles that unite our nation toward promoting radical ideologies meant to divide us,” McConnell wrote to Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona in April.

'ENOUGH': Lindsey Graham to Introduce Legislation Condemning Dems’ Impeachment Inquiry

posted by Hannity Staff - 10.24.19

Senate Republicans -led by Lindsey Graham- will introduce new legislation Thursday officially condemning House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against President Trump.

“The South Carolina Republican, a close ally of President Donald Trump, has attacked Democrats for their handling of the impeachment process. His resolution — backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell — criticizes the House for its ‘closed-door, illegitimate impeachment inquiry,’” reports Politico.

“This is a kangaroo court and it will not stand,” Graham said this week. “I’ve got a resolution saying if you’re going to impeach the president give him the same rights that Richard Nixon had and that Bill Clinton had…what’s going on now is disgusting.”

“The Graham resolution could put pressure on Republicans who have appeared open to considering the evidence in the House impeachment inquiry. But even Republicans who have declined to offer predictions on how the inquiry might end have attacked Democrats for how they’ve handled impeachment,” adds Politico.

Graham exploded on the Democrats’ “sham” impeachment investigation Tuesday; telling reporters on Capitol Hill the whole process is completely “Un-American.”

“This is a sham. This is a joke. I’m going to let the whole world know that if we were doing this to a Democratic president, you would be all over me right now… This is a lynching in every sense. This is un-American.”

ANOTHER EXCUSE: Cory Booker Says Senate Impeachment Trial Could Cost Him Iowa Caucus

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.09.20

Failing presidential candidate Cory Booker weighed-in this week on a potential Impeachment trial in the US Senate; saying the proceedings could potentially cost him the Iowa Caucus and other contests.

“If this trial lasts two weeks, that is literally dozens of events we won’t be able to do,” Booker said.

“It’s going to be a challenging four weeks in the caucus for us,” Booker said during a recent podcast. “If we can’t raise more money in this final stretch, we won’t be able to do the things that other campaigns with more money can do to show presence.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is under growing pressure from Congressional lawmakers to finally transmit her Articles of Impeachment to the US Senate.

“I understand what the speaker is trying to do, basically trying to use the leverage of that to work with Democratic and Republican senators to try to get a reasonable trial, a trial that would actually show evidence, bring out witnesses,” Rep. Adam Smith told CNN. “But at the end of the day, just like we control it in the House, Mitch McConnell controls it in the Senate.”

“I think it was perfectly advisable for the speaker to try to leverage that to get a better deal,” he continued. “At this point, it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. And yes, I think it is time to send the impeachment to the Senate and let Mitch McConnell be responsible for the fairness of the trial. He ultimately is.”

Senator Dianne Feinstein urged Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to end her political stunt regarding the Articles of Impeachment Wednesday; telling the top Democrat to send the documents to the US Senate if it’s truly “serious and urgent.”

“Time plays an unknown role in all of this, and the longer it goes on, the less the urgency becomes. So if it’s serious and urgent, it should come over. If it isn’t, don’t send it over,” said Feinstein.

“I’m not a big fan of impeachment but I think there’s enough to take a good look, and we should,” she said.

“I think it needs to start. I really do,” said Sen. Joe Manchin. “Let us do what we have to do over here.”

“I think the time has passed. She should send the articles over,” added Sen. Chris Murphy.
