The White House really wants you to believe that President Biden has been supporting the Maui wildfire victims since “day one.”
While discussing the President’s trip to Maui on Monday Deputy Press Secretary Olivia Dalton and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell took questions from the press on Biden’s response.
Dalton says Biden will “make sure that he communicates to [Maui residents] that not only have we been there since day one, has he been there since day one…”

Criswell says that the President is “satisfied” with his administration’s response to the wildfires, despite failing to give an official comment for weeks.
"Can you give us a sense of how the president believes the [Maui wildfires] response has been so far?"

According to a recent MSNBC report, the feeling on the ground in Maui is that President Biden didn’t move fast enough and will likely face a rocky reception.
“Not only are people [in Maui] unhappy about the local and state and county response … but also about the perceived lack of communication from federal officials — including the president, who took a while to make a statement that was substantial.”
