Officials in New York City reissued their indoor mask advisory for all residents across the five boroughs this week despite a person’s vaccination status; a move just short of reinstating a mask mandate when leaving the home.
“New York City on Monday issued an advisory strongly recommending that everyone wear masks indoors in public places at all times regardless of vaccination status, amid concern about the new, highly mutated strain of the coronavirus named omicron,” reports CNBC.
“I’m also issuing a commissioners advisory strongly recommending that all New Yorkers wear a mask at all times when indoors and in a public setting. Like at your grocery or in building lobbies, offices and retail stores,” Dr. Dave Chokshi, commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, told reporters.
“There are no omicron cases here in New York City at this moment. It is very likely there will be, but there are no cases at this moment,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said during the update. “Our entire focus once again is going to be on vaccination. Based on everything we know, vaccination is crucial to any strategy for addressing omicron.”

'UNBELIEVABLE': De Blasio Ripped by Quarantined New Yorkers After Marching in East Harlem Protest
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio faced a growing backlash from furious New Yorkers Monday after taking part in an East Harlem protest despite the ongoing quarantine for millions of workers across the five boroughs.
“Marching with @etcnyorg during today’s East Harlem Pray and Protest, I felt the urgency and pain of this moment — but also confidence that change will come because of the spirit of this movement and because in this city we affirm that #BlackLivesMatter,” posted Bill de Blasio on Twitter.

Start spreading the news
I am leaving today
Don’t want to be a part of it
New York, New YorkCuomo’s abuse
COVID’s here to stay
Right through the very heart of it
New York, New YorkDon’t want to wake up in a city
Run by that creep
I’ll soon go over the hill
Leave this trash heapDeBlasio Blows
Upwards that crime goes
Bad guys run every part of it
Like old New YorkI’ll get right Out of There
Take my family Anywhere
In my rear view
New York, New YorkNew York, New York
Don’t want to wake up
In a city that’s six feet deep
and find I might be car-jacked
Central park attacked
Taxes I’m fleeced
They don’t like policeMan, are they on crack?
Bring the Apple back
I gotta hit the busy Thruway
Out of New YorkOh baby
If I can get out of there
Away from – the mean streets’ glare
You are all done
New York, New York, New York
