MAKING HIS CASE: Trump Asks SCOTUS to Block NYC 'Hush Money' Sentencing

Judge Merchan has scheduled the sentencing for Friday…

President-elect Donald Trump and his legal team have asked the Supreme Court to block the sentencing in his Manhattan “hush money” case scheduled to take place on January 10th.

Trump’s lawyers filed the emergency application after a New York appeals court judge rejected a previous request made this week to indefinitely delay the sentencing.

“This Court should enter an immediate stay of further proceedings in the New York trial court to prevent grave injustice and harm to the institution of the Presidency and the operations of the federal government,” Trump’s attorneys wrote in the filing.

A spox for Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg said: “We will respond in court papers.”

Trump’s legal team’s emergency appeal to the SCOTUS presented three questions; Rasmussen Reports shared the filing on X.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung says the president-elect is “asking the Court to correct the unjust actions by New York courts and stop the unlawful sentencing in the Manhattan D.A.’s Witch Hunt.”
