President Donald Trump will carry out the annual turkey pardons at the White House on Tuesday before flying to his private Florida resort for the Thanksgiving holiday — a brief pause in what has been a turbulent stretch of his second term.
The ceremony is scheduled for 12 p.m. EST, and will be streamed live.
The two turkeys set to receive pardons — Waddle and Gobble — arrived in Washington after enjoying luxury hotel accommodations ahead of their White House appearance. The ritual, a lighthearted presidential tradition, has been observed for years as a symbolic reprieve from the Thanksgiving dinner table.
