'MADD' AS HELL: MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Blasts Own Network for Dumping Ratings-Challenged Joy Reid [WATCH]

All is not well over at MSDNC…

During Monday night’s episode of The Rachel Maddow Show, host Rachel Maddow blasted her network for firing ratings-challenged Joy Reid over the weekend; “I think it is a bad mistake,” she said.

Maddow called the news “very, very, very hard to take.”

“I am 51 years old. I have been gainfully employed since I was 12. And I have had so many different kinds of jobs, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you. But in all of the jobs I have had, in all of the years I have been alive, there is no colleague for whom I have had more affection and more respect than Joy Reid,” Maddow said.

“I love everything about her. I have learned so much from her. I have so much more to learn from her,” she continued. “I do not want to lose her as a colleague here at MSNBC, and personally, I think it is a bad mistake to let her walk out the door. It is not my call, and I understand that, but that’s what I think.”

Maddow went on to call it “unnerving” for the network to cancel the shows of “two non-White hosts” in its weekday programming as well as “The Katie Phang Show” on the weekends, noting that “The Alex Wagner Show” will no longer fill in Maddow’s 9 p.m. ET timeslot for the remainder of the week, which is instead going to “Inside with Jen Psaki.”

“And that feels worse than bad, no matter who replaces them,” Maddow said. “That feels indefensible, and I do not defend it.”

President Trump reacted to Reid’s firing on Monday, calling the ousted host an “obnoxious racist.”

“Lowlife Chairman of ‘Concast,’ Brian Roberts, the owner of Ratings Challenge NBC and MSDNC, has finally gotten the nerve up to fire one of the least talented people in television, the mentally obnoxious racist, Joy Reid,” Trump wrote.

“Based on her ratings, which were virtually non-existent, she should have been ‘canned’ long ago, along with everyone else who works there,” he continued.

Reid reacted to her show’s end on Monday during a Zoom call. A visually upset Reid said her show had “value” and reaffirmed her support for Black Lives Matter, the 1619 Project, and Gaza.

Reid emphasized that she is not sorry that she stood by those things; “I’m not sorry, I’m just proud of my show.”
