Self-described Democratic-Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pulled-back the curtains on her long-promised ‘Green New Deal’ this week; unveiling the legislation that seeks to completely overhaul the American economy, housing market, healthcare system, agriculture, and travel industry.
Cortez isn’t alone in her quest to reshape the country. Joining the Democrats’ newest star are 64 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives and nine sitting US Senators.

GREEN NEW STEAL: Dem Senator Says Socialism Means ‘Increasing Living Standards’ for Seniors
Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley defended the concept of American socialism from President Trump’s scathing critique this week; saying liberal policies are simply seeking to “increase the living standard of our seniors.”
Merkley was speaking with CNN’s Erin Burnett when she asked the left-wing legislator to comment on President Trump’s State of the Union address where he claimed America “will never be a socialist” country.
“Well, it is a society coming together to increase the standard of living of our seniors, and that is pretty much the definition. And the president’s attacking it,” Merkley said.

Sen. Cory Booker doubled-down on Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’ ‘Green New Deal’ Friday; telling a crowd of supporters the fight against climate change is the same as those who fought against Nazi Germany during World War II.
“We have to deal with this, our planet is in peril. We need to be bold, that’s why I co-sponsored the resolution for the Green New Deal,” said Booker.
“We are a nation that has done impossible things before. We need to be bold again in America. When the planet has been imperiled in the past, who came forward to save earth from the scourge of Nazism? We came forward,” he added.
