LET IT GO, STACEY! Record Early Voting in Georgia, Abrams Still Screaming 'Suppression'

posted by Hannity Staff - 10.19.22

On Tuesday, The Hill reported that Georgia smashed its record for early voting.

“On Monday, 131,318 ballots were cast in-person. In the 2018 midterm elections, 70,849 ballots were cast in-person on the first day of early voting, according to a release from the Georgia secretary of state’s office,” The Hill says.

“The turnout numbers may quiet some concerns regarding voter suppression after Republican-led Georgia passed a restrictive voting law last year, but it’s still unknown what the demographics of the voters are.”

Well, the data isn’t quieting the concerns of one Stacey Abrams, who’s still yelling about voter suppression and using strange shark analogies to get Georgians riled up.

“We are about to make history,” Abrams said during a recent campaign event. “Yesterday we saw record turnout for early voting. yes, we should be excited…[but] it does not mean that voter suppression doesn’t exist. That’s like saying there are no more sharks in the water because more people get in. We know that voter suppression is alive and well in Georgia,” Abrams says.

Abrams claimed she was a target of voter suppression back in 2018.

From NPR:

In an interview with Morning Edition host Steve Inskeep, the Democratic gubernatorial nominee said that when she went to vote last month, a poll worker initially told her that she had requested an absentee ballot and couldn’t cast an in-person vote. Abrams replied that she never filed for an absentee ballot, and after a conversation with the site’s manager, the matter was quickly resolved.

“I did it quietly. I didn’t turn it into a major conversation because, for me, it was about getting through the process,” Abrams said. Followed by cameras to the polls, she said kept the snafu under wraps because “I was not trying to embarrass anyone, but I did want it fixed.”

“But it was also emblematic to me of the privilege that I have,” Abrams, who holds a degree from Yale Law School, went on. “I know the law … There are thousands, millions in Georgia who do not know what their rights are and therefore do not know that they shouldn’t have to wait in four-hour lines in the rain with their children. They shouldn’t have to worry about whether they will lose their jobs in order to exercise their democratic right to vote for their leaders.”

Is that suppression, Stacey?
