A new poll published by St. Anselm College Survey Center this week shows former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders on top among New Hampshire Democrats, with South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg surging to third place.
According to the data, 23% of New Hampshire Democrats prefer Joe Biden, followed by Sanders at 16% and Buttigieg at 11%.
“Right now, it looks like the battle in New Hampshire is all about two familiar faces,” said Neil Levesque of the NH Institute of Politics.
“This is very surprising,” he added, referring to the rapid rise of Pete Buttigieg. “He’s now in third place in New Hampshire, and he came from relative obscurity. And he’s gone up an astounding 33 percent with his favorability, so Pete Buttigieg is somebody to watch.”

BIDEN RISING: Insiders Say the Former VP Sees Himself as Democrats’ ‘BEST HOPE’ in 2020
Former Vice President Joe Biden reportedly sees himself as the Democratic Party’s “best hope” for defeating Donald Trump in 2020; with political insiders saying he is in the “final stages” of deciding whether to launch a potential run for the White House.
“Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. is in the final stages of deciding whether to run for president and has told allies he is skeptical the other Democrats eyeing the White House can defeat President Trump, an assessment that foreshadows a clash between the veteran Washington insider and the more liberal and fresh-faced contenders for the party’s 2020 nomination,” writes the New York Times.
“He has the best chance of beating Trump, hands down,” said Sen. Tom Carper of Delaware.
“In 2020, Biden-style centrism will become a toxic and losing brand of politics in Democratic primaries,” said a progressive activist from the left-wing of the Democratic Party.

Former Vice President Joe Biden is making major gains against his potential Democratic opponents in recent polling; opening up a “double digit” lead against Sen. Bernie Sanders, Beto O’Rourke, Kamala Harris, and others.
The latest Quinnipiac University survey shows Biden leading his potential opponents with 29% of registered Democrats favoring the former Vice President.
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is in distant second place with 19% followed by Beto O’Rourke at 12% and Sen. Kamala Harris at 8%.
“Hungry for a candidate to take on President Donald Trump, Democrats and Democratic leaners put the three B’s, Biden, Bernie and Beto, at the top in a race where age, race and gender take a back seat to electability and shared views,” adds the survey.
