House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy threw more cold-water on the Democrats’ latest push to remove President Trump from office Wednesday; saying GOP lawmakers destroyed a key impeachment witness in just “90 seconds.”
“In 90 seconds, we had John Ratcliffe destroy [acting U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bill] Taylor’s whole argument,” McCarthy said.
“We can’t really talk about it,” he added. “Adam Schiff won’t let us talk about what happened.”
McCarthy’s comments come hours after Speaker Nancy Pelosi published a “fact sheet” detailing her party’s impeachment inquiry.
“President Trump has betrayed his oath of office, betrayed our national security and betrayed the integrity of our elections for his own personal political gain,” states the document.
“On September 25, the White House released a record of President Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Zelensky, which paints a damning picture of Trump abusing his office by pressing a foreign government to interfere in our 2020 elections. President Trump has betrayed his oath of office, betrayed our national security and betrayed the integrity of our elections for his own personal political gain,” it adds.

“In recent weeks, the nation has learned more about how President Trump abused the power of the presidency by using multiple levers of government – from Vice President Pence to the State Department, including Secretary Mike Pompeo, Ambassador Gordon Sondland, and Ambassador Kurt Volker – to advance a scheme to undermine our 2020 elections for his political gain, and then to obstruct the congressional inquiry into that scheme,” reads the document.

DROP IT: House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy Demands Pelosi ‘Halt the Impeachment Inquiry’
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy demanded Speaker Nancy Pelosi “halt the impeachment inquiry” Thursday; saying the American people deserve “fairness and transparency” on such an important issue.
“I’ve written to Speaker Pelosi to halt the impeachment inquiry until we can receive public answers to the following questions. Given the enormity of the question at hand—impeaching a duly elected president—the American public deserves fairness and transparency,” McCarthy posted on social media.

“In his letter to Pelosi, McCarthy asks a number of questions, including whether Pelosi plans to hold a full House vote on authorizing the impeachment inquiry, whether she plans to grant subpoena powers to both the committee chairs and the ranking members, and whether she’ll allow trump’s lawyers to attend the hearings,” reports Fox News.
McCarthy’s letter comes one day after he officially endorsed a censure resolution against House Intel Chair Adam Schiff for his botched Ukraine hearing.
“Chairman Adam Schiff has been lying to the American people for years,” McCarthy said in a tweet. “Now he is so desperate to damage the president that he literally made up a false version of a phone call. Enough is enough.”

Enough is enough. I have signed a resolution to censure Schiff in the House of Representatives.

“I have signed a resolution to censure Schiff in the House of Representatives,” he added.
“My summary of the president’s call was meant to be at least, part, in parody,” Schiff said. “The fact that that’s not clear is a separate problem in and of itself. Of course, the president never said, ‘If you don’t understand me I’m going to say it seven more times,’ my point is, that’s the message that the Ukraine president was receiving in not so many words.”

BACKLASH BUILDS: More Lawmakers Call for Schiff to RESIGN from House Intel Committee
A growing number of Republican lawmakers and national figures called for Rep. Adam Schiff to resign from the House Intelligence Committee Tuesday; citing years of non-stop and baseless allegations regarding President Trump “colluding” with foreign nationals.
“He’s been on every TV show 50 times a day for practically the last two years, promising Americans that this president would either be impeached or indicted,” said senior presidential advisor Kellyanne Conway Monday. “He has no right, as somebody who has been peddling a lie, day after day after day, unchallenged.”
“He owes an apology to the American public,” added House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. “There is no place in Adam Schiff’s world or in Congress that he should be chair of the intel committee.”
“There is no way he could lead the intel committee and he should step back,” McCarthy added.
“They should be removed from their chairmanships,” said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. “They owe the American people an apology. They owe this president an apology, and they have work to do to heal this democracy because this is our country we are talking about.”
