Former Independent Counsel Ken Starr addressed the United States Senate Monday during the impeachment trial of President Trump; saying House Democrats tried for months to remove the Commander-in-Chief from office.
“We are living in what can aptly be described as the Age of Impeachment. In the House, resolution after resolution, month after month has called for the President’s impeachment. How did we get here?” asked Starr.
“With presidential impeachment evoked frequently, it’s inherently de-stabilizing,” he added.

MEET THE TEAM: Ken Starr, Alan Dershowitz Join Trump Impeachment Defense Team
The White House released new details regarding the President’s impeachment defense team Friday; saying former independent counsel Ken Starr and attorney Alan Dershowitz will represent the Commander-in-Chief in the US Senate.
“Ken Starr, the former independent counsel who led the Whitewater investigation into then-President Bill Clinton, and attorney Alan Dershowitz will join President Trump’s impeachment defense team, reports Fox News. “The prominent lawyers were among several attorneys added to the team as the president’s impeachment trial gets underway, with proceedings kicking off a day earlier and moving into full swing next Tuesday.”
SHIELDING SCHIFF: Nadler Letter Confirms Schiff WON’T Defend his Own Report, Appear before Judiciary
A recently released letter from House Judiciary Chair Jerrold Nadler to Rep. Doug Collins shows House Democrats plan on shielding Adam Schiff from answering questions over his own report; instead relying on outside lawyers and staffers.
“With respect to your requests that the Committee obtain testimony from Chairman Adam Schiff… the Committee has previously tabled motions with regard to these matters. I see no reason to reconsider those requests… There is no need for Chairman Schiff,” writes Nadler.
Schiff’s Intel Committee voted last Wednesday to pass the ongoing impeachment inquiry to the Judiciary Panel; effectively shielding the chairman’s report from further scrutiny.
The secrecy stands in stark contract from former independent counsel Ken Starr; who took questions from both Republicans and Democrats during Bill Clinton’s impeachment back in 1998.
Collins called-out Schiff during Congressional testimony Monday morning; accusing the lawmaker of “hiding behind” his staffers.
“At the end of the day, all of this is about — is about a clock and a calendar because (Democrats) can’t get over the fact Donald Trump is president of the United States and they don’t have a candidate that they think can beat him,” Collins told the House Judiciary Committee
Collins stopped-by ‘Hannity’ Wednesday night following a day of heated impeachment testimony on Capitol Hill; saying Republicans “have the facts” while Democrats “have only hatred.”
