She wants to “neutralize red states.”

Former Vice President Kamala Harris sparked a social media firestorm after unveiling what critics called a laundry list of progressive “bad ideas” during a livestream discussion about the Democratic Party’s future.

Appearing Wednesday night on the “Win with Black Women” podcast, Harris argued Democrats need an “expanded playbook” heading into the 2026 midterms and suggested the party should openly entertain a slate of controversial structural changes to the political system.

“Look, this is a moment where there are no bad ideas, a no bad idea brainstorm is what I’d like to call it,” Harris said during the livestream clip that quickly exploded online.

“And in that no bad ideas brainstorm, we talk about what we need to do and think about doing around the Electoral College,” Harris continued. “We talk about the idea of Supreme Court reform, which includes expanding the Supreme Court. We invite a conversation about multi-member districts.”

The former vice president also floated adding statehood for Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico while urging Democrats to aggressively counter Republican-led redistricting efforts.

“We’ve got to neutralize red states from cheating, including blue states expanding their maps,” Harris said.

“We got to fight fire with fire. They’re playing to win.”

The remarks triggered immediate backlash from conservatives and Republican officials, many of whom accused Harris of openly endorsing a partisan restructuring of American institutions following Democrats’ losses in recent elections.

Vickie Paladino blasted the comments as dangerous escalation.

“Democrats have declared the entire electoral process illegitimate because they sometimes lose elections,” Paladino wrote on X.

“They are prepared to torch the entire country in order to ‘neutralize red states’,” she added. “This is the language of civil war.”

Mike Lee responded with sarcasm.

“Well, maybe a few bad ideas,” the Utah Republican posted online.

Tom Fitton also weighed in, accusing Harris of attacking constitutional norms.

“@KamalaHarris doesn’t think it is a ‘bad idea’ to destroy our constitutional republic,” Fitton posted.

Conservative radio host Erick Erickson argued the media would react differently if Republicans proposed similar reforms.

“If a Republican were to say these things, the press would excoriate them,” Erickson wrote. “But when a Democrat does it, the press treats it as legitimate because the press is on the same side.”
