Border czar Tom Homan vowed Thursday that groups he described as “far-left” organizations that fund and coordinate attacks on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will face consequences, while urging political leaders and activists to cool anti-ICE rhetoric as federal enforcement in Minnesota shifts toward a planned drawdown.
“About the organization and the funding of the attacks on ICE, I’m not going to answer a lot about that because I’m not going to show our hand, but they’ll be held accountable. Justice is coming,” Homan declared during a press conference in Minneapolis.

Homan also warned that heated rhetoric aimed at federal immigration officers has contributed to escalating danger on the ground.
“I begged for the last two months on TV for the rhetoric to stop. I said in March — if the rhetoric doesn’t stop, there is gonna be bloodshed. And there has been. I wish I wasn’t right. I don’t want to see anybody die,” Homan said.
Homan said the administration’s planned reduction in federal personnel in Minnesota is tied to “common sense cooperation” with state and local leaders, and suggested it could be larger if officials and demonstrators stop impeding operations.
Homan claimed the forthcoming drawdown reflects discussions with top Minnesota officials, including Gov. Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison.
“Based on the discussions I’ve had with the governor and the AG, we can start drawing down those resources,” Homan said, adding that ICE can increasingly focus on targeting “criminal illegal immigrants” in jail settings with fewer personnel.
“So the drawdown is going to happen based on these agreements, but the drawdown could happen even more if the hateful rhetoric and impediments stop.”
Homan also confirmed ICE will now better coordinate with Minnesota county jails.

“To be clear, we did not agree with Minnesota’s state and local officials that they would be involved in immigration enforcement,” Homan said. “I’m asking them to be cops working with the cops to help us take criminal aliens off the street.”
