JUSTICE BARRETT: Judge Amy Coney Barrett Joins the United States Supreme Court

posted by Hannity Staff - 10.27.20

Judge Amy Coney Barrett was sworn-in as the 9th Justice of the Supreme Court Monday night after the Senate voted to approve her confirmation process. The final tally was 52-48 mostly along party lines.

“Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed to the Supreme Court late Monday by a deeply divided Senate, Republicans overpowering Democrats to install President Donald Trump’s nominee days before the election and secure a likely conservative court majority for years to come,” reports the Associated Press.

“Monday’s 52-48 vote was the closest high court confirmation ever to a presidential election, and the first in modern times with no support from the minority party. The spiking COVID-19 crisis has hung over the proceedings. Vice President Mike Pence’s office said Monday he would not preside at the Senate session unless his tie-breaking vote was needed after Democrats asked him to stay away when his aides tested positive for COVID-19. His vote was not necessary,” adds the AP.

“This is something to be really proud of and feel good about,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said.

AOC GOES OFF: Ocasio-Cortez Accuses GOP of ‘Co-Opting Faith’ to ‘Advance Bigotry and Barbarism’

posted by Hannity Staff - 10.13.20

Controversial Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ripped her Republican colleagues on social media Monday night; accusing GOP lawmakers of “co-opting faith” to “advance bigotry and barbarism.”

“Sick and tired of Republicans who co-opt faith as an excuse to advance bigotry and barbarism. Fact is, if today Christ himself came to the floor of Congress and repeated his teachings, many would malign him as a radical and eject him from the chamber,” posted Ocasio-Cortez.

Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris addressed the Senate during the confirmation process of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court Monday; saying Republicans are “rushing and jamming” her nomination.

“The Constitution of the United States entrusts the Senate with the duty to carefully consider nominations to the Supreme Court… Yet the majority is rushing this process and jamming President Trump’s nominee through the Senate,” said Harris.

“People are actually voting. Millions more will vote while this illegitimate process is underway,” she added. “A majority of elections want whoever wins this election to fill this seat… They’re deliberately defying the will of the people.”

BARRETT to FEINSTEIN: ‘I Don’t Have Any Agenda’ and Will ‘Stick to the Rule of Law to Decide Cases’

posted by Hannity Staff - 10.13.20

Judge Amy Coney Barrett fired-back at Sen. Dianne Feinstein when pressed on whether she has a “political agenda” for the Supreme Court; stating her “only agenda is to stick to the rule of law and decide cases as they come.”

“On something that is really a major cause with a major effect on over half of the population of this country, it’s distressing not to get a straight answer. Do you agree with Justice Scalia’s view that ‘Roe’ was wrongly decide?” asked Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

“I understand why you’re asking the question. But I can’t pre-commit. I don’t have any agenda. I have an agenda to stick to the rule of law and decide cases as they come,” fired-back Judge Barrett.
