JUST IN: North Dakota Lawmakers Pass Bill Banning Critical Race Theory in Schools

posted by Hannity Staff - 11.15.21

Lawmakers in North Dakota passed new legislation this week that bans the use of Critical Race Theory across the state’s public school system; joining several other states that have enacted similar bills.

It’s unclear if the Governor intends to sign the measure.

“The anti-CRT bill was swiftly introduced and approved during a special session that was called to address redistricting and the spending of coronavirus stimulus money,” reports Fox News.

“This bill is about critical race theory, and it’s mostly about preventing it from being taught in our state,” Republican state Sen. Donald Schaible said Friday.

“It’s a political ideology … It is an ideology that if we can indoctrinate it into our children young it would have a political consequence on our children later,” Republican state Sen. Janne Myrdal, who introduced the bill in the Senate, said. “We’re not talking about teaching history and racism, I deplore racism as I think everybody in this body does … We need to teach true history, and we need to teach all of it.”

The legislation clearly defines critical race theory as “the theory that racism is not merely the product of learned individual bias or prejudice, but that racism is systematically embedded in American society and the American legal system to facilitate racial inequality.”

BACKTRACK: White House Blames ‘Error’ After Promoting Group Pushing Critical Race Theory in Schools

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.21.21

From Fox News:

The Biden administration blamed an “error” Wednesday after promoting a radical activist group’s handbook that pushes critical race theory in schools and calls on educators to “disrupt Whiteness.”

“The Department does not endorse the recommendations of this group, nor do they reflect our policy positions,” the Department of Education (DOE) said in a statement. “It was an error in a lengthy document to include this citation.”

DOE linked to the Abolitionist Teaching Network’s “Guide for Racial Justice & Abolitionist Social and Emotional Learning” in its handbook intended as a “roadmap” for schools to reopen safely during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Abolitionist Teaching promotes justice, healing, joy, and liberation for all Black, Brown, and Indigenous folx, inclusive of all intersecting identities,” the group’s guide states. It calls on educators to “[r]emove all punitive or disciplinary practices that spirit murder Black, Brown, and Indigenous children” and to “[b]uild a school culture that engages in healing and advocacy.”

“This requires a commitment to learning from students, families, and educators who disrupt Whiteness and other forms of oppression,” it states.

The guide also claims that social and emotional learning (SEL) “can be a covert form of policing used to punish, criminalize, and control Black, Brown, and Indigenous children and communities to adhere to White norms,” and that “[m]ost SEL standards are rooted in Eurocentric norms, not to empower, love, affirm, or free Black, Brown, or Indigenous children.”

DOE’s handbook currently links to the group’s guide in a section about meeting the social, emotional, and mental health needs of students.

DeSANTIS: ‘Critical Race Theory is Teaching People to Hate Our Country and Hate Each Other'

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.24.21

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ripped “Critical Race Theory” on ‘Hannity’ this week; saying the ideology is “basically teaching people to hate our country” and to “hate each other.”

“Critical Race Theory is basically teaching people to hate our country, hate each other. It’s divisive, and it’s basically an identity politics version of Marxism. It has no place in the classroom and certainly shouldn’t be funded by taxpayers,” said the Governor.

“We’re going to have a de-politicized curriculum; we’re not going to let that stuff in there. That’s going to serve the students in Florida well for years to come,” he added.

Ron DeSantis addressed reporters last month on his state’s push to get all children back into the classrooms; saying things like “Critical Race Theory” don’t deserve a single penny from Floridian taxpayers.

“There is no room in our classrooms for things like Critical Race Theory. Teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other is not worth one red cent of taxpayer money,” said DeSantis.

“We will invest in an accurate and true curriculum,” he added.
