JUST IN: Mitch McConnell to Step Down as Senate Republican Leader [DETAILS]

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.28.24

According to anĀ AP News report, Kentuck Senator Mith McConnell plans to step away from his role as Republican Leader in the Senate; he’s planning to finish out his term but relinquish the leader role in November.

ā€œOne of life’s most underappreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on to life’s next chapter,ā€ he said in prepared remarks obtained by AP. ā€œSo I stand before you today … to say that this will be my last term as Republican leader of the Senate.ā€

McConnell said he plans to serve out his Senate term, which ends in January 2027, ā€œalbeit from a different seat in the chamber.ā€

Members of McConnell’s team say the decision has nothing to do with the 82-year-old’s health.
