JUST IN: Mitch McConnell to Step Down as Senate Republican Leader [DETAILS]

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.28.24

According to an AP News report, Kentuck Senator Mith McConnell plans to step away from his role as Republican Leader in the Senate; he’s planning to finish out his term but relinquish the leader role in November.

“One of life’s most underappreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on to life’s next chapter,” he said in prepared remarks obtained by AP. “So I stand before you today … to say that this will be my last term as Republican leader of the Senate.”

McConnell said he plans to serve out his Senate term, which ends in January 2027, “albeit from a different seat in the chamber.”

Members of McConnell’s team say the decision has nothing to do with the 82-year-old’s health.
