Biden Document Scandal

JOE SKATES: Special Counsel Says Biden ‘Willfully Retained and Disclosed’ Classified Docs But No Charges Warranted

Special Counsel Robert Hur has concluded his investigation into Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents — and no surprise, no charges are recommended.

From The New York Post:

The 300-plus-page report by Hur, a former Maryland US attorney, was delivered to Congress after the White House counsel’s office declined to assert privilege over any of its contents.

Hur found that classified records hoarded by Biden included documents concerning military and foreign policy in Afghanistan, as well as notebooks with handwritten entries about national security and foreign policy issues “implicating sensitive intelligence sources and methods,” according to his 18-page executive summary of the report.

According to the special counsel, Biden, 81, kept the documents to inform the writing of two memoirs published in 2007 and 2017, as well as “to document his legacy, and to cite as evidence that he was a man of presidential timber.”

“Classified materials next to your Corvette? What were you thinking?” Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Biden after he spoke about annual inflation edging lower to 6.5% in December 2022.

“My Corvette is in a locked garage, OK? So it’s not like they’re sitting out on the street,” Biden replied, seeming to brush off the significance of the discovery.

“So it was in a locked garage?” Doocy persisted.

“Yes, as well as my Corvette,” Biden admitted.

“But as I said earlier this week, people know I take classified documents and classified material seriously,” the president insisted.

“I also said we’re cooperating fully and completely with the Justice Department’s review. As part of that process, my lawyers reviewed other places where documents might —  from my time as vice president — were stored and they finished the review last night. They discovered a small number of documents with classified markings in storage areas and file cabinets in my home and my personal library.”
