JOE BLOWS BALLOON INTEL! Biden Reveals 'Sensitive' Info on Spy Balloon at Donor Event; Report

According to a report from The New York Times, during a campaign fundraiser Tuesday night, President Biden went off on a rant possibly revealing information he shouldn’t have.

“The reason why Xi Jinping got very upset in terms of when I shot that balloon down with two boxcars full of spy equipment in it is he didn’t know it was there,” Mr. Biden told about 130 guests at the big-dollar event in a private Kentfield home. “No, I’m serious. That’s what’s a great embarrassment for dictators when they didn’t know what happened.”

Other U.S. officials were surprised on Tuesday night that the president would discuss the sensitive information in a public setting, but one official who has been briefed on the intelligence and spoke on condition of anonymity said Mr. Biden’s remarks accurately reflected the American government’s private assessment.

Asked about Mr. Biden’s remarks, a spokeswoman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs restated her government’s position that the balloon flight “was entirely an accidental event” that Washington had whipped out of proportion. The spokeswoman, Mao Ning, also delivered some sharp words that seemed to be directed at Mr. Biden’s description of Mr. Xi as a “dictator.”

“The relevant remarks from the U.S. side are utterly absurd and irresponsible,” Ms. Mao said at a regular news briefing in Beijing on Wednesday, “and they are a grave violation of basic facts, diplomatic protocol and China’s political dignity. They are an open political provocation.”
