Three passengers, including a child, were critically injured when a Delta Air Lines flight crash-landed and flipped upside down at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday.
Delta Flight 4819 took off from Minneapolis at 11:47 a.m. before crashing just before 3 p.m. Images show the mangled airliner smoldering on the snowy runway as dazed passengers scrambled to safety.
Photos and videos on social media reveal severe damage, with the jet belly-up, one wing crumpled, and the tail section partially sheared off.

NBC anchor Tom Costello tried to tie the Toronto crash to Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
“[T]his is going yet again raised a concern about FAA staffing — air traffic control staffing,” Costello said.
“Now, this is a Canadian air traffic control tower, and this is under Canadian authority once it crosses the border. And yet, as you know, there has been this talk about maybe staff cuts at the FAA as a part of President Trump’s effort to trim down the federal workforce.”
Costello continued: “And yet, as you also know, the FAA has been complaining for years that they are understaffed in critical job positions, especially air traffic control. I was having a conversation with somebody today about whether air traffic control and Americans being affected by the staff cuts so far not to their knowledge and yet other positions related to maintaining critical equipment appeared to have been cut, so this is going to feed into all of these recent incidents and the safety of — of the total air traffic system is going to be very much a part of the conversation as we go forward, at least on the side of the country of the border, I should say.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt tried to get ahead of some “fake news” on X after AP reported on the firing of FAA staff over the weekend in, perhaps, another attempt to link plane crashes to the Trump Administration.
“More fake news from the @AP 1. DOGE doesn’t even have a Facebook page 2. No air traffic controllers nor any professionals who perform safety critical functions were terminated.”
