IT'S BRITT IN BAMA: Trump-Backed Katie Britt Easily Wins GOP Alabama Runoff

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.22.22

Trump-backed Alabama Senate candidate Katie Britt easily defeated Congressman Mo Brooks (R-AL) in the state’s GOP primary runoff election on Tuesday night. At press time, Britt was way ahead of Brooks with 66.54% of the vote, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Enough votes to declare Britt the winner.

“Alabama has spoken,” Britt said in an address to her supporters on Tuesday night. “We want new blood. We want fresh blood. We want someone who will fight for our Christian conservative values, who will fight for the freedom and liberty this nation was founded on.”

“Britt secured former President Donald Trump’s endorsement after coming in first place with a plurality of votes in the GOP primary election in May,” The Daily Wire reports. “Brooks was endorsed by Trump prior to that election. He then lost Trump’s support after saying that it was time to move on from the 2020 election. He placed second during Alabama’s GOP primary election. Since neither candidate had 50% or more of the vote, the run-off election was held on Tuesday, June 21.”

Trump endorsed Britt on June 10th after rescinding his endorsement of Brooks, saying “Mo has been wanting it back ever since,” in reference to his rescinded endorsement, “but I cannot give it to him!” “Katie Britt, on the other hand, is a fearless America First Warrior,” Trump said.

Britt will face off against Democratic candidate Will Boyd in November.
