New York Congressman Joe Crowley left immigration experts and politicians scratching their heads Wednesday, bizarrely suggesting that illegal immigrant families who crossed the border need to be “compensated” by the Trump administration.
Crowley -who recently lost a heated primary battle to Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez- was speaking with reporters from the Capitol when he floated the notion of “compensating” those families who had been “separated” along the border.

“The damage that has been done to these children will be lifelong. To these family units will be lifelong as well. And in fact, I suggest that they need to be compensated for what this administration did to them. And the first form of compensation needs to be the reunification of these families,” said Crowley.

Big Apple Mayor Bill de Blasio slammed the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency Friday; blasting the “unreasonable” department and calling for the abolishment of ICE in the aftermath of “family separations.”
De Blasio took to twitter to attack the federal agency, saying America needs “reasonable law enforcement” along the US-Mexico border; adding that ICE agents are “not reasonable law enforcement.”
“Every country needs reasonable law enforcement on their borders. ICE is not reasonable law enforcement. ICE is broken, it’s divisive and it should be abolished,” he tweeted.

The Mayor’s comments come just days after the President signed an executive order ending “family separations” along the border; effectively permitting minors to remain with their parents while being processed by federal agents.

A Democratic congressman introduced legislation to officially “abolish” the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency this week, saying “heartless” ICE agents are “ripping at the moral fabric of our nation.”
Rep Mark. Pocan of Wisconsin sponsored the left-wing bill just days after President Trump signed an executive order ending “family separations” along the US-Mexico border, saying the agency fails to “represent the values” of America.
“ICE is tearing apart families and ripping at the moral fabric of our nation,” said Pocan. “Unfortunately, President Trump and his team of white nationalists, including Stephen Miller, have so misused ICE that the agency can no longer accomplish its goals effectively.”
“The heartless actions of this abused agency do not represent the values of our nation and the U.S. must develop a more humane immigration system, one that treats every person with dignity and respect,” he added.
