The Department of Homeland Security confirmed to Fox News that a semi-truck driver arrested in connection with a head-on crash in Indiana that killed four people on Tuesday is a Kyrgyzstan national who entered the United States through the Biden administration’s CBP One process.
Police say 30-year-old Bekzhan Beishekeev was driving on State Road 67 in Jay County, Indiana when he failed to stop for a slowed semi-truck, swerved into oncoming traffic, and crashed head-on into a van, killing four people. Local reporting said several of the victims were Amish.
ICE records show Beishekeev is now in ICE custody, indicating local law enforcement honored a detainer and transferred him to federal authorities, according to the Fox report.
The report also notes that the Biden-era CBP One app was used to facilitate parole entries, and that President Trump moved to end CBP One’s scheduling use after taking office and later shifted the platform into CBP Home, which includes an “Intent to Depart” self-departure feature.
