A-list Actor George Clooney defended President Biden’s falling approval ratings during an interview this week; comparing the United States with a “battered child” and blaming the nation’s ongoing troubles on Donald Trump.
“You’re a Democrat, but you’re slightly to the left. You’re a friend of President Biden. Looking at his poll numbers, which are really quite bad at the moment, things have gone wrong. What would you say about what’s happened to the White House since he’s taken over?” asked a British journalist.
“It’s like taking a battered child and thinking everything’s going to be okay on his first day of school. There’s a lot of healing that has to happen, and it’s going to take time. Poll numbers go up and down,” said Clooney.
“[Trump] is going to be a factor for a while. He’s just this knucklehead. I knew him before he was President,” added the actor.
President Biden’s approval ratings continue to plunge as the White House veers from crisis to crisis, with just 43% giving the Commander-in-Chief the thumbs-up according to an average compiled by Real Clear Politics.
The latest figures are:
- RCP Average 10/1 – 10/10– 43.0-52.5 -9.5
- Rasmussen Reports 10/6 – 10/10 41-58. -17
- Reuters/Ipsos 10/6 – 10/7. 48-47. +1
- Trafalgar Group (R) 10/4 – 10/6108. 40-56. -16
- Economist/YouGov 10/3 – 10/5 44-49. -5
- Politico/Morning Consult 10/2 – 10/4 45-52. -7
- Quinnipiac 10/1 – 10/4 40-53. -13
The data comes days after a Quinnipiac survey found just 38% back Mr. Biden.

BIDEN in NEW HAMPSHIRE: ‘What You Do Here in Iowa is Going to Set the Tone’
Former Vice President Joe Biden left audience members scratching their heads in New Hampshire over the weekend; confusing the northeast state for Iowa -approximately 1,000 miles away.
“The primary race for the United States presidency… You have an incredible obligation, not to me at all, but to yourselves. What you do here in Iowa […] is going to set the tone,” said Biden before correcting himself.
“New Hampshire, the primary in New Hampshire,” he added.

Biden made a similar mistake earlier this year; confusing New Hampshire for the neighboring state of Vermont.
“I’ve been here a number of times…I love this place. Look, what’s not to like about Vermont in terms of the beauty of it?” Biden told reporters.
