Top Gun: Maverick was a huge blockbuster this summer and Tom Cruise just wants to say thanks in the way only he can —by jumping out of a helicopter. Cruise delivered the message while free-falling on the set of his latest movie.
“Hey everyone, here we are over sunny South Africa,” Cruise said in the new video while sitting on the edge of a helicopter. “And we’re filming ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning’ parts one and two.”
“I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theaters, and thank you for supporting ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’” he said.
Cruise then jumps from the helicopter and continues speaking to the camera.
“Where was I?” Cruise says as he looks at the camera as he falls through the sky. “Oh, yeah. Thank you for supporting ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. As always, thank you for allowing us to entertain you. It truly is the honor of a lifetime. Yeah, very lucky.”
“I’m running out of altitude, so I better get back to work,” Cruise said as he broke away from the camera and headed straight toward the ocean. “We gotta get this shot. You have a very safe and happy holiday. We’ll see you at the movies.”
Top Gun: Maverick grossed more than $1.4 billion at the global box office and more than $690 million domestically after three months in theaters, making it one of the highest-grossing movies of all time.
