According to a report from the New York Post, two Chechen death squads sent to kill Volodymyr Zelenskyy have been “neutralized” after a Russian intelligence leak.
Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, says sources inside the Russian FSB gave Kyiv the intelligence needed to track down the assassins.
“They were divided in two groups, we were tracking them,” said Danilov. “One group was handled near Hostomel [northwest of Kyiv], the other one is in our sights.” “We won’t give up our president, our country,” Danilov added. “This is our land, be gone.”
Zelenskyy knows he’s being targeted by Russian hit squads. Last week in a video message to European leaders he said “this might be the last time you see me alive.”
