The House finally voted to provide 24-hour protection for Supreme Court Justices and their families after the assassination attempt on Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The vote was 396-27 —and all 27 “nay” votes were from a Squad-heavy group of Democrats.
From The Daily Wire…
All 27 votes against the bill were from Democrats: Joyce Beatty of Ohio, Jamaal Bowman 0f New York, Cori Bush of Missouri, Veronica Escobar of Texas, Adriano Espaillat of New York, Chuy Garcia of Illinois, Sylvia Garcia of Texas, Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey, Raúl Grijalva of Arizona, Steven Horsford of Nevada, Pramila Jayapal of Washington, Brenda Lawrence of Michigan, and Barbara Lee of California.
In addition, Tom Malinowski of New Jersey, Marie Newman of Illinois, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Bill Pascrell of New Jersey, Donald Payne of New Jersey, Ed Perlmutter of Colorado, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Mike Sherrill of New Jersey, Albio Sires of New Jersey, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Norma Torres of California, Nydia Velazquez of New York, Maxine Waters of California, and Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey voted against the bill protecting the Supreme Court justices and their families.
Many of these Reps have called to defund the police —while also beefing up their private security.
According to The Drill Down, “AOC (D-NY) has spent more than $35,000 on private security outside her burrough; Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) has spent $7,500 on protection so far this year; Cori Bush (D-MI) paid personal security firms $70,000 from her campaign funds; and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) spent a few thousand in 2021 while simultaneously denigrating police departments.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., boasted in an Instagram video on Saturday about initially blocking the bill.
“I wake up this morning and I start to hear murmurs that there is going to be an attempt to pass the Supreme Court supplemental protection bill the day after gun safety legislation for schools and kids and people is stalled,” she said in the video.
“Oh, so we can pass protections for us and here easily, right? But we can’t pass protections for everyday people?” she continued. “I think not.”
