Danelo Cavalcante, the convicted killer who escaped from a Pennsylvania prison two weeks ago, has been caught after initially evading authorities by hiding in the woods and suburban homes.
According to reports, Cabalcante was arrested without incident and escorted into a van by a SWAT team shortly before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
From The New York Post:
Footage showed officers cutting off the double murderer’s clothing, presumably to search for hidden weapons.
The investigators took pictures of his tattoos once his shirt was off, to confirm his identity, news station KYW-TV reported.
Grainy footage of the fugitive showed him wearing what appears to be a gray Philadelphia Eagles sweatshirt, FOX 29 News’ Steve Keeley pointed out on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Residents in the area were alerted to his arrest via a reverse 911 call, CNN reported.
At the time of his arrest, Cavalcante was still in possession of a .22 rifle he stole from a homeowner’s garage Monday night, officials said.
State police are set to hold a press conference at 9: 30 a.m. about the escapee’s capture.
