Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum took his fight against his GOP opponent to the national level this week; unloading on “pig” Donald Trump as his razor-tight race comes down to the wire.
Gillum slammed the Commander-in-Chief on social media after the President called the potential governor a “stone-cold” thief who would like to transform Florida “into Venezuela.”
“I heard @realDonaldTrump ran home to @FoxNews to lie about me. But as my grandmother told me — never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, but the pig likes it. So ignore him and vote, Florida!” tweeted Gillum.

Gillum’s comments come just days after he faced renewed scrutiny over his decision to accept theater tickets from undercover FBI agents “posing as a developer.”
“Well, the FBI offered him tickets at $1,800 apiece and he took them,” Trump told Fox News. “I guess he was posing as a developer or something. The man stone-cold took this stuff. I don’t even think he should be allowed to continue on with the race.”
POLL: Democrat Andrew Gillum Leads GOP’s Ron DeSantis in Florida Governor’s Race
Democrat Andrew Gillum leads GOP candidate Ron DeSantis by six points in recent polls; setting the stage for a Sunshine State showdown between the Bernie-backed progressive and Trump-endorsed conservative.
According to a recent Reuters poll, 50% of Florida voters support Gillum compared to 44% who back DeSantis.

Both candidates are hoping to replace Republican Gov. Rick Scott, who will be leaving office due to state-wide term limit requirements. Scott is currently running for the United States Senate.
The new survey shows Gillum opening a wider lead than initially predicted, with earlier polling showing the race in a statistical dead heat.
SHE'S BACK: Hillary Clinton to Campaign for Andrew Gillum in Florida
Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton announced this week her plans to campaign for Democrat Andrew Gillum in Florida; setting the stage for a political re-match between the progressive hopeful and Trump-backed Ron DeSantis.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, the former Secretary of State will hit the campaign trail alongside Gillum within weeks.
“I’m honored to have Secretary Clinton join me in Florida next month,” Gillum said in a statement. “Hillary knows just what’s at stake in this election — affordable healthcare, a brighter future for our children — and that the choice in this election could not be clearer.”
“Gillum’s campaign said Thursday that the former U.S. Secretary of State will join him in South Florida on Oct. 23. His campaign did not release any further details about the location or time of the event,” added the Times.
