The three main medieval stained-glass windows of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France miraculously survived Monday’s massive blaze, with firefighters managing to save most of the building’s stone exterior despite losing the roof and iconic spire.
“Notre Dame’s three medieval stained-glass windows all survived last night’s devastating fire, the Archbishop of Paris has said, as detectives probe the renovation work which may have led to the blaze,” reports the Daily Mail.
“The first daylight pictures inside the wreckage of the Paris landmark today showed the roof destroyed, the 850-year-old church exposed to the elements and the floor covered in charred debris,” adds the report.
French President Emmanuel Macron vowed to rebuild the cathedral as firefighters worked to contain the blaze; saying it was the “destiny” of the French people.

French firefighters and first responders miraculously managed to contain the massive blaze that engulfed the Notre Dame Cathedral late Monday evening; as images emerged of the smoldering House of Worship not seen since the widespread European destruction of the Second World War.

The central spire and roof of France’s world-famous Notre Dame Cathedral collapsed Monday after a massive blaze engulfed the centuries-old House of Worship; shocking residents and tourists throughout the city.
“Black smoke could be seen from a distance billowing out from the top of the medieval cathedral, while flames leaped out from two of its bell towers. The sight stopped pedestrians in their tracks along the Seine River, which passes under the cathedral,” reports Fox News.
