Conservative influencer Nick Shirley, who rose to prominence after spotlighting alleged misuse in Minnesota’s child care system, said he has arrived in California as a new round of allegations swirls over purported “ghost” day care centers.
“Hello California I’ve arrived,” Shirley wrote on X Saturday, posting a photo of himself in a “Support Independent Journalism” hoodie.

Shirley has not publicly detailed what he plans to investigate next, but Amy Reichert — a private investigator and local political figure — suggested a video project is imminent.
“California, here we come! When @nickshirleyy drops the video, it’s going to be (fire emoji),” Reichert wrote alongside a photo of herself with Shirley.
Reichert has also promoted claims of systemic abuse in California’s child care programs, including in an appearance on Fox News.
“I started looking into state records and I found ghost day cares, these are places where the state inspector showed up, there would be 28 kids enrolled and there were no kids there in the middle of the day and in the middle of the week,” Reichert said.
Reichert went on to claim there could be billions of dollars worth of fraud uncovered in California.
