A 2018 Tweet from Speaker Nancy Pelosi came back to haunt her this week, showing the top Democrat blaming Republicans for the government shutdown because they controlled both Houses of Congress and the White House.
“This is the first time in recent memory that a government shutdown has been possible when one party — one party — has controlled the White House, House, & Senate. The Republicans own that. Do your job,” posted Pelosi on January 18, 2018.

Democrats now control the Senate, House of Representatives, and the White House.
Despite the stalled agenda, Pelosi continued to praise President Biden during a recent trip abroad.
“We’re so fortunate that he did not win for President before when he ran, because we needed him now. He’s perfect for now. He knows his foreign policy, he was Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee. He extends a hand of friendship to friends and foe alike,” said Pelosi.
“He knows, and is known, by most leaders in the world,” she added.
ARMAGEDDON AGAIN? Pelosi Warns Government Could be ‘CLOSED FOREVER’ Over Budget Fight
Likely Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi escalated her war-of-words with the Trump administration Thursday; saying the government could be “closed forever” because of her opposition to the President’s border wall.
Pelosi was speaking with reporters during her weekly press conference at the Capitol when she was asked if she planned to cave to the President’s security demands.
Pelosi predicts the government will stay "closed forever" because she is never going to fund the border wall.

“Let’s hope there won’t be a shutdown of the government. That’s a very bad thing to do, maybe the President doesn’t grasp that. That is very harmful to our country at significant cost,” said Pelosi.
“They still voted against opening up the government [the last time.] Does he want to have government closed forever? What’s this about? I know he doesn’t believe in government,” she added.
CRITICAL SITUATION: Trump Summons Leaders to Situation Room for Budget Showdown
President Trump summoned congressional leaders to the White House’s Situation Room Wednesday; demanding Democrats and Republicans fully fund his border security initiatives and re-open the federal government.
“President Trump plans to hold a highly anticipated border security meeting with congressional leaders in the Situation Room on Wednesday afternoon, Fox News has learned — choosing a setting meant to underscore the urgency of the border problem,” writes Fox.
The federal government effectively shutdown December 22nd after congressional Democrats called the president’s border wall funding a “non-starter” in budget negotiations.
The high-stakes meeting comes just hours before Democrats retake control of the House of Representatives, when House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is widely expected to become the next Speaker of the House.
