Back in 2018, Fox News Channel host Sean Hannity made news by dropping a tip while dining in Helsinki, Finland — but diners don’t traditionally tip there.
Legend has it, he also picked up the tab for the CNN crew.
From Forbes:
Ilta Sanomat, an evening newspaper in Finland, reported that “President Trump’s personal friend, famous anchor Sean Hannity,” wrapped a day’s work covering the president’s overseas trip by taking the entire Fox News crew out to dinner. In Helsinki, where diners don’t tip, the size of the bill and the tip added by Hannity were enough to confuse the Finnish server, who returned to Hannity with the bill, saying “Sir, there must be a mistake here, you paid too much.”
But Fox News correspondent Ed Henry, in a conversation with Hannity on Fox and Friends Sunday, said Hannity’s known for taking the crew to dinner and picking up the tab. “The world doesn’t know how generous you are. Every time we go on these trips, not just the anchors and reporters, you take all of our crew guys, all of our producers, you take them out to dinner. And you are very generous.”
