A North Carolina father did what any real man would do when he came face to face with his teenage son’s accused killer roaming free in a courthouse hallway. Shaheem Snype, 47, delivered a brutal beatdown to 21-year-old Marion McKnight, the man charged with murdering his 16-year-old son Jamariyae Dixon. The shocking confrontation at Charlotte’s Mecklenburg County Courthouse sent a clear message about what happens when the justice system fails families, according to the New York Post.

Video footage captures the raw emotion as Snype charges McKnight and unleashes a barrage of punches and kicks that left the accused killer hospitalized. Only a police Taser could stop the grieving father’s righteous fury. Meanwhile, McKnight had been walking around free as a bird on a measly $100,000 bond since November, living comfortably at his mother’s house with nothing but ankle monitoring. That’s the kind of weak-kneed justice that drives fathers to take matters into their own hands.

The family isn’t backing down from supporting Snype’s actions. Dixon’s aunt Susan Sherrill put it perfectly: “He did what he had to do as a father. Any father would’ve done the same thing.” Even Dixon’s mother Lynnette admitted watching the video brought her the first real smile since losing her son. That tells you everything about how this grieving family feels about a system that lets alleged killers walk free while families suffer.

This whole mess started when McKnight allegedly gunned down young Jamariyae during a shooting at Stroud Park Court last May that left three people wounded. The 16-year-old fought for his life for two days before dying at the hospital. McKnight got arrested, charged with murder, then promptly released to go home to mommy’s house. Prosecutors were finally trying to revoke his bond when this courthouse confrontation erupted, but it was too little, too late.

Snype faces a misdemeanor assault charge and posted just $1,000 bond to walk free the same day. The real question is why it took a father’s desperation to highlight how broken our justice system has become when accused killers get better treatment than the grieving families they’ve destroyed.
