The Deputy Press Secretary refused to answer growing questions surrounding cash payments to illegal migrants Monday; telling reporters they should direct all relevant inquiries to the Department of Justice.
“If somebody was just separated for a few hours or a few days, would they be eligible to settle a suit and get this payment from DOJ?” asked one reporter.
“You have asked us this question, we have answered it, and I will refer you to Department of Justice,ā said the Deputy Press Secretary. āI donāt have anything more to say and Iām going to move on!ā

OUTRAGE: GOP Demands Answers Over Reports Biden Admin Paying Some Migrants $450,000
Republicans demanded answers from the White House Friday after reports emerged claiming the administration was considering $450,000 payments to illegal immigrant families separated after illegally crossing the US-Mexico border.
āDozens of House Republicans are sending a letter to three ofĀ President BidenāsĀ Cabinet secretaries regarding reports that their agencies are in talks to giveĀ illegalĀ immigrantsĀ separated at the border under the previous administration $450,000 each. The Republicans are demanding answers from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and Attorney General Merrick Garland,ā reports Fox News.
“The rationale for this egregious abuse of taxpayer dollars is to compensate these persons for ālasting psychological trauma,ā” the lawmakers wrote in the letter obtained by Fox News. “Do, however, note that these persons crossed into our country in a knowingly illegal manner, fully aware of the consequences of violating our rule of law.”
āBiden wants to pay illegal immigrants $450,000 for their hardship while breaking our laws. For perspective, if a service member is killed in action, their next of kin gets an insurance payment of $400,000. Let that sink in,ā posted Crenshaw on social media.

The Wall Street Journal reported the White Houseās decision Thursday.
āThe U.S. is in talks to offer immigrant families separated at the border in 2018 about $450,000 a person in compensation, people familiar with the matter say,ā claimed the newspaper.
āThe Biden administration is in talks to offer immigrant families that were separated during the Trump administration around $450,000 a person in compensation, according to people familiar with the matter, as several agencies work to resolve lawsuits filed on behalf of parents and children who say the government subjected them toĀ lasting psychological trauma,ā adds the WSJ.
