'DUNK TANK' DIPLOMACY? Rubio Mocks 'Circus' House Hearing as Dems Reach for Viral Moments [WATCH]

Secretary of State Marco Rubio tore into House Democrats during a fiery Foreign Affairs Committee hearing Wednesday after one lawmaker questioned him about a pair of shoes gifted to him by President Donald Trump.

Rubio dismissed the exchange as “a circus” after Rep. Sara Jacobs mocked him over what appeared to be a reference to prior media chatter surrounding Trump gifting him shoes.

“Mr. Secretary, it seems like you have an issue admitting facts,” Jacobs said. “You couldn’t admit the shoes the president bought you were too big.”

The secretary appeared visibly confused by the remark.

“I don’t know about the shoes. I mean, [Trump] gave me some Florsheim shoes that are actually pretty good, they fit fine, I don’t know what she’s talking about,” Rubio replied.

But Jacobs returned to the topic moments later.

“Your shoes look very nice today, Mr. Secretary,” she said.

That prompted Rubio to unload on the hearing itself.

“How can you see them? They’re way down here. We’re talking about shoes. Are you guys kidding me?” Rubio shot back.

“Is this the Foreign Affairs Committee or is this, like, a circus? What is this?”

The bizarre exchange unfolded during an increasingly combative hearing dominated by Democratic attacks on the Trump administration’s handling of Iran, military operations and allegations involving the president’s financial interests.

Earlier in the hearing, Rep. Gregory Meeks pressed Rubio on whether Trump’s personal business interests could have influenced decisions surrounding military action tied to Iran.

Rubio flatly rejected the insinuation.

“Not once. Just to be clear, not a single time, not even for a millisecond, has the president ever discussed his personal economics and relations to war or any public policy that he’s made, for that matter,” Rubio said.

“And I’ve been in every one of his foreign policy meetings for the most part.”

As Democrats continued hammering Rubio throughout the hearing on corruption allegations, foreign policy disputes and Trump’s conduct, the secretary grew increasingly irritated with lawmakers repeatedly interrupting his answers.

“What kind of thing is this?” Rubio said later in the hearing.

“You get asked questions for five minutes and you don’t get time to answer. It’s not a hearing.”

At another point, Rubio compared the proceedings to carnival entertainment.

“Is this a dunk tank? What is this?” he asked.

Hannity’s Highlights

Marco Rubio called a House hearing “a circus” — the Secretary of State unloaded on lawmakers after being questioned about a pair of shoes gifted to him by President Trump.

Rep. Sara Jacobs kept returning to Rubio’s footwear during exchanges meant to address Iran policy — a line of questioning Rubio made clear he found beneath the gravity of the moment.

Rubio accused Democrats of choosing interruptions and political theater over serious oversight — arguing the hearing was more focused on scoring clips than conducting meaningful foreign policy debate.

Democrats also pressed Rubio on Trump’s financial interests and military decision-making tied to Iran — broadening their line of attack beyond the shoes to questions about conflicts of interest and the conduct of the Iran campaign.

For Republicans and Trump allies, the hearing became another example of what they argue is Democrats prioritizing viral moments and political theater over substantive oversight during a period of major geopolitical tension involving Iran and the Middle East.

For Rubio, the shoe exchange appeared to crystallize his broader frustration with a hearing he believed had veered far away from serious foreign policy debate.
