DEVELOPING: Federal Judge Orders Texas to Stop Enforcing ‘Heartbeat’ Abortion Bill

posted by Hannity Staff - 10.07.21

A federal judge in Austin, Texas moved to block the Lone Star State’s latest pro-life legislation; calling the law an attempt to deny residents of their Constitutional Rights as defined by the United States Supreme Court.

The order by U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman is the first legal blow to the Texas law known as Senate Bill 8, which until now had withstood a wave of early challenges. In the weeks since the restrictions took effect, Texas abortion providers say the impact has been ‘exactly what we feared,’” reports the Associated Press.

“In a 113-page opinion, Pitman took Texas to task over the law, saying Republican lawmakers had ‘contrived an unprecedented and transparent statutory scheme’ by leaving enforcement solely in the hands of private citizens, who are entitled to collect $10,000 in damages if they bring successful lawsuits against abortion providers who violate the restrictions,” adds the AP.

President Biden issued a scathing rebuke of the Texas “heartbeat” bill in September.

“This extreme Texas law blatantly violates the constitutional right established under Roe v. Wade and upheld as precedent for nearly half a century,” Biden said in a statement.

“The Texas law will significantly impair women’s access to the health care they need, particularly for communities of color and individuals with low incomes,” Biden’s statement continued. “And, outrageously, it deputizes private citizens to bring lawsuits against anyone who they believe has helped another person get an abortion, which might even include family members, health care workers, front desk staff at a health care clinic, or strangers with no connection to the individual.”

STACEY ABRAMS: Georgia’s New Pro-Life 'Heartbeat' Bill ‘A Direct Result of Voter Suppression’

posted by Hannity Staff - 5.08.19

Stacey Abrams continued her full-fledged assault on the 2018 midterm elections this week; baselessly claiming Georgia’s new pro-life ‘heartbeat’ bill is a “direct result of voter suppression.”

“Bad policies like the forced pregnancy bill are a direct result of voter suppression. If leaders can silence Georgians’ voices at the ballot box, they can ignore Georgians’ voices when in office. We will fight back in court and at the voting booth,” tweeted Abrams.

The failed gubernatorial candidate -alongside leading Democrats including Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris -has routinely blamed her 2018 defeat on voter suppression and other external factors.

??????: AOC Says ‘Republicans Have Overturned Roe v Wade’

posted by Hannity Staff - 9.02.21

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rushed to Twitter Wednesday to falsely claim Republicans have ‘overturned’ Roe V Wade after the Supreme Court refused to hear a case regarding Texas’ latest pro-life law.

“Republicans promised to overturn Roe v Wade, and they have. Democrats can either abolish the filibuster and expand the court, or do nothing as millions of peoples’ bodies, rights, and lives are sacrificed for far-right minority rule. This shouldn’t be a difficult decision,” posted the far-left Representative.

AOC was referring to a 5-4 vote this week that allows Texas to enforce it’s so-called ‘Heartbeat’ Abortion Law. The bill effectively bans all abortions after doctors can detect a fetal heartbeat, typically occurring after six weeks of pregnancy.

Critics of the legislation claim many women are unaware of their pregnancies until that time.

“The court’s order is stunning,” liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote in a dissenting opinion.

“Presented with an application to enjoin a flagrantly unconstitutional law engineered to prohibit women from exercising their constitutional rights and evade judicial scrutiny, a majority of justices have opted to bury their heads in the sand.”
