Despite GOP candidate Troy Balderson declaring victory in last week’s special election in Ohio, the vote count continues to “drag on” with the Republican clinging to a razor-thin lead.
According to Fox News, Balderson maintains a slight lead over Democrat Danny O’Connor; beating his left-wing challenger by just 1,564 votes.
“While Kansas’ tight GOP gubernatorial primary election was finally resolved Tuesday, it could be days before voters know the official result in last week’s other nail-biter race: Ohio’s special election for the 12th District House seat,” writes Fox News.
“The district, in the suburbs of Columbus, has had a Republican representative for more than three decades. While Democrats put up a fight into the final hours, Republican state Sen. Troy Balderson is ahead in the vote count and has already declared victory over Democrat Danny O’Connor,” adds the article.
“Anytime you have a close election that receives intense local and national attention, like the one we held last week for Ohio’s 12th Congressional District, there will inevitably be those who seek to sow seeds of doubt about the process and call into question how the election has been administered,” said Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.

DEFEATED OHIO DEMOCRAT: Donald Trump ‘Doesn’t Know What He’s Talking About’
The apparent loser in Tuesday’s highly-contested special election in Ohio slammed the President Wednesday morning; saying Trump “doesn’t know what he’s talking about” just hours after he lost to the GOP candidate.
Democrat Danny O’Connor lashed-out at the Commander-in-Chief during a recent interview on CNN, claiming Republican Troy Balderson “can have all the people he wants fly in from DC” to help sway the election.
"I don't think he knows what he's talking about," says Danny O'Connor, Democratic candidate for OH-12, of Trump backing his opponent: "Troy Balderson can have all the people he wants fly in from DC. I don't think it makes too much of a difference" https://t.co/9AtD7t8GWg pic.twitter.com/NzgA0Gdbj9

IT BEGINS: Democrats Blame RUSSIA, GREEN PARTY for Ohio Defeat
With the official vote tally unpublished and the liberal candidate refusing to concede, Democrats are already blaming a host of external factors for an apparent defeat in Tuesday’s Ohio special election; claiming Russia and the Green Party led to the GOP victory.
Liberals and left-leaning supporters across the country took to Twitter to slam the Kremlin and the third-party candidate just hours after Trump-backed Troy Balderson declared a narrow victory over Democrat Danny O’Connor.
You know what sucks?
Because of our unwillingness to pass policy that protects our election integrity, I immediately think the Green Party votes tonight are Russian meddling.
Why else would anyone cast a protest vote in Ohio when there’s so much at stake?#OH12

“Hi. I’m a Green Party voter. I love the environment so damn much I keep accidentally electing climate-change deniers who are owned by the fossil fuel industry. Do I get a cookie now for being a nonconformist?”
