Alabama Democratic Senator Doug Jones weighed-in over the weekend on the alleged ‘ISIS wife’ and her family’s request to return to the United States; saying the Islamic State sympathizer should be brought back to the US to stand trial.
“While I certainly understand the initial reaction to prohibit Hoda Muthana from coming back to the United States, I am concerned that allowing anyone who has committed crimes against the people of this country to remain beyond the reach of our justice system is the wrong approach and sends the wrong message,” Jones said Sunday.
“My view is that she should absolutely be brought to justice for inciting violence against Americans. Doing so would send a powerful message that any American who lends support to a terrorist organization will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law,” he added.
President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo denied Muthana’s request last week; saying she is no longer an American citizen.

The father of the Alabama-born ‘ISIS wife’ hoping to return to the United States is suing the Trump administration to allow his daughter to come back to the country, reports Fox News.
“The father of the Alabama woman begging to be let back into the U.S. after leaving years ago to join ISIS is now launching a legal campaign against President Trump, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Attorney General William Barr,” writes Fox.
Legal representatives from the Constitutional Law Center for Muslims in America filed a lawsuit on behalf of Ahmed Muthana -father of Hoda Muthana- claiming her U.S. citizenship should be recognized despite her defection to the Islamic State.

NO WAY BACK: Secretary Pompeo BANS Alabama-Born ‘ISIS WIFE’ from Returning to the US
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo refused to allow an Alabama-born ‘ISIS wife’ to return to the United States Wednesday; blocking her request despite her public apology for joining the Islamic State in Syria.
“Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Wednesday an Alabama-born woman who joined ISIS but now wants to return home with the 18-month-son she had with her ISIS husband will not be admitted back into the United States, saying she is not a U.S. citizen anymore,” reports Fox News.
“Ms. Hoda Muthana is not a U.S. citizen and will not be admitted into the United States,” Pompeo said in a statement. “She does not have any legal basis, no valid U.S. passport, no right to a passport, nor any visa to travel to the United States. We continue to strongly advise all U.S. citizens not to travel to Syria.”
“I would tell them please forgive me for being so ignorant, and I was really young and ignorant and I was 19 when I decided to leave,” Muthana -now 24- told the Guardian Newspaper.
