Big Apple Mayor Bill de Blasio confirmed this week his administration is considering a “license requirement” for those hoping to navigate New York City with a bicycle; adding new regulations may also demand the use of helmets and other safety features.
“We have to think about what’s going to be safe for people first, but also what’s going to work,” the mayor said. “Is it something we could actually enforce effectively? Would it discourage people from riding bikes? I care first and foremost about safety.”
“We are going to keep expanding enforcement on bicycles as well, because we still have a lot of bike riders who have to remember they have to follow the rules,” he added.

De Blasio’s shift to local politics comes hours after the NY Post published a scathing exposé revealing the mayor spent just seven hours at City Hall the month he launched his presidential campaign.
“Mayor Bill de Blasio spent a mere seven hours — less than one full workday — at City Hall during the month he launched his bid for the White House, records reviewed by The Post show,” reports the New York Post. “Hizzoner showed up at his office on just six occasions in May, taking part in two meetings, four events and five phone calls, one of which was his weekly appearance on WNYC radio.”
“The 11 appointments amounted to a meager one-fifth of the 50 meetings, calls and other events at City Hall on de Blasio’s calendar for May 2018. He had a total 152 city events scheduled for the month,” adds the Post.
“If he’s trying to show New Yorkers that he’s over doing the job, he’s doing a good job of it,” said a former staffer.

DE BLASIO ROCKED: Firefighters, EMS Unions TRASH De Blasio over Pay Inequality Throughout NYC
Unions representing Big Apple firefighters and Emergency First Responders slammed Mayor Bill De Blasio Wednesday; saying the NYC leader was playing politics by calling for “pay equality” for the Women’s Soccer Team while failing to acknowledge the problem in his own administration.
“While Mayor de Blasio uses this victory parade to grab attention for his presidential run and advocate against pay inequality, the first responders of FDNY EMS are victims of that same inequity,” said a statement from the unions.
“The difference in salaries after five years is tens of thousands of dollars,” the statement added. “The women’s national team deserves equal pay, but so do the hardworking EMTs and paramedics who save lives routinely and who the mayor has ignored.”
De Blasio spoke during New York’s victory parade honoring the US Women’s Soccer Team following their World Cup victory.
“This team has shown an undeniable truth, an inalienable right, the equality of women must be guaranteed in this nation,” de Blasio said.
The mayor was hit with a similar complaint by the NYPD union after the Democratic debate.
“History repeats itself. @BilldeBlasio said he wants to bring cops and community together. Ask any cop on the street what impact his divisive rhetoric has had #DemDebate https://twitter.com/billdeblasio/status/1144068770249531392 …,” posted the official Twitter account of the New York City Police Benevolent Association.
“We’re working hard to get guns off the street @BilldeBlasio. You must have been too busy to go to the last Compsat meeting because SHOOTINGS ARE UP 9.7%. ‘Safest Big City’ in the country doesn’t feel that way to many especially in Brooklyn,” added the PBA.
“The hostile and dangerous environment we now face on the street is a direct result of demonization of cops by de Blasio and other elected officials,” concluded the statement.

DE BLASIO ROCKED: Former NYPD Boss Slams ‘Disgraceful’ De Blasio’s Attitude Towards Police
Former NYPD Chief Louis Anemone slammed Big Apple Mayor Bill de Blasio Monday; calling the presidential hopeful’s attitude towards police “disgraceful” after footage emerged showing cops assaulted with water in recent weeks.
“He’s the chief executive of this city of New York, the largest city in this country. He has not taken the lead for security, for public security, and for supporting the police. He’s been behind, way behind,” Anemone said.
“He does not have their back. I firmly believe firmly that he does not have their back,” he added.
President Trump weighed-in on the controversy last week, writing “We love our Law Enforcement Officers all around this great Country. What took place in NYC with water being tossed on NYPD officers was a total disgrace. It is time for @NYCMayor @BilldeBlasio to STAND UP for those who protect our lives and serve us all so well.”

Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani blasted Bill de Blasio last Monday after footage emerged of local teens dousing NYPD officers with buckets of water; saying this “disrespect” for uniformed police never would have happened on his watch.
The DISRESPECT NYPD Officers are faced with today is DISGUSTING.

“This disrespect for the uniform in NYC is result of a Democrat-Progressive (Retrogressive)-Socialist Mayor. This is what happens with knee-jerk disrespect for police. It will only get worse until these Left wing idiots are defeated,” posted Giuliani on social media.

“Footage shows separate incidents of people in Harlem using buckets to splash and dump water over uniformed officers, as the cops calmly walk away. De Blasio condemned the acts as ‘Completely unacceptable,’ and said, ‘We won’t tolerate this kind of disrespect.’ Still, former mayor Giuliani believes the 2020 presidential candidate is part of the problem,” reports Fox News.
“Our anti-cop lawmakers have gotten their wish: the NYPD is now frozen. It’s not the fault of these police officers. It’s the end result of the torrent of bad policies and anti-police rhetoric that has been streaming out of City Hall and Albany for years now,” said PBA President Patrick Lynch, adding, “Disorder controls the streets, and our elected leaders refuse to allow us to take them back.”
