According to a New York Post report, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Tuesday lost her bid to return to the Georgia election interference case against President Trump and his allies.
The embattled prosecutor was removed from the case in December by the Georgia Court of Appeals, which cited the “appearance of impropriety” stemming from her affair with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.
On Tuesday, Georgia’s Supreme Court said it would not consider reversing that decision.
Trump’s legal team welcomed the ruling.
“The Georgia Supreme Court has correctly denied review of the Georgia Court of Appeals decision disqualifying DA Fani Willis and her office as prosecutors in the Fulton County RICO case,” Trump lawyer Steve Sadow said in a statement to The Post.
“Willis’ misconduct during the investigation and prosecution of President Trump was egregious, and she deserved nothing less than disqualification. This proper decision should bring an end to the wrongful political, lawfare persecutions of the President.”
The state’s highest court declined to review the matter in a 4-3 vote, with one judge not participating and another disqualified.
When asked about Willis on Tuesday, President Trump said she should face prison time.
President Trump calls for Fulton County DA Fani Willis to face prison time:
“Fani Willis is a criminal. She should be prosecuted for what she did to innocent people, patriots, that love our country.”

This case was always rooted in political vendetta rather than merit, and this ruling is a win for those who wish to see an overreaching judiciary held accountable.https://t.co/aBl1MIPkIS
