Former FBI Director James Comey refused to answer key questions regarding the presidential memos he leaked to the press this week; flat-out rejecting one reporter’s blunt assessment over whether he “spilled” confidential material.
Comey was speaking with reporters Monday afternoon at the US Capitol when he was asked to comment on his decision to share potentially classified documents with the media after his firing by President Trump.
“My understanding is that when you shared your memos with your legal team, that there was a follow-up for a classified containment operation by the bureau. Was there a spill of classified information when you shared those memos?” asked on reporter.
“I’m not going to talk about something like that,” Comey fired-back. “I’m not going to talk about it one way or another.”
COMEY CASHES IN: Disgraced FBI Boss’s New Book OUTSELLING Clinton, Wolff
Former FBI director James Comey’s Trump-bashing memoir shot to the top of the best-seller list Tuesday; outperforming both Hillary Clinton’s and Michael Wolff’s total sales combined.
According to the New York Times, Comey’s tell-all book, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership” blasted through sales expectations after his media-hyped publicity tour; stopping by The View, The Late Show, and countless other liberal outlets.
“Mr. Comey’s publisher, Flatiron Books, has ordered multiple reprints to meet demand, and now has more than a million copies in print,” writes the Times. “The early sales figures for Mr. Comey’s book dwarfed other recent political best sellers.”
Initial sales figures have the book selling over 600,000 copies.
The former FBI director made national headlines last week after his public attacks against President Trump; calling the Commander-in-Chief a “mob boss” acting as the head of an organized crime family.
COMEY GRILLED: Meghan McCain SCOLDS James Comey To His Face
Meghan McCain publicly scolded James Comey on live television Wednesday, blasting the former FBI director for “sounding like a politician” and asking what he was truly “trying to gain” in writing his recent book.
Comey was sitting down with the hosts of ABC’s The View when McCain lashed-out, saying she wishes him “no disrespect” but wasn’t interested in his “take on the current Republican party.”

“I want to believe you’re not a political person, you’re the head of the FBI,” said McCain. “The big issue I have is I don’t want to know your politics. A lot of the things you’re saying and doing is highly political. I don’t understand what you gain by trying to clear the deck here.”
“I don’t think of it as my politics, I think of it as my values,” Comey fired-back.
“No disrespect, but what your take on the current Republican Party is… I’m more interested in what you know about national security,” said McCain.
