CLEANING HOUSE: FBI Fires Jack Smith's Docs Case Team After Records Revelations

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.26.26

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has dismissed at least 10 agents and analysts who worked on Jack Smith’s classified documents investigation of President Donald Trump, bureau officials revealed on Thursday.

The action is part of a wider personnel shakeup under FBI Director Kash Patel that critics say targets employees tied to high-profile probes of the president.

Patel’s office has pointed to revelations that the FBI subpoenaed his and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles’ phone records while they were private citizens during the Jack Smith special counsel investigation.

Patel told Reuters that the requests for his metadata records relied on what he called “flimsy pretexts” and were buried in restricted case files to avoid oversight.

The classified documents probe led to Trump’s indictment in 2023 before the case was dismissed after he won the 2024 election. Patel has framed the dismissals as part of a broader effort to restore accountability at the bureau and correct what he and allies view as overreach by previous leadership.

The FBI Agents Association, which represents more than 14,000 active and retired agents, sharply condemned the terminations. The group said the firings violated due process and undermined the bureau’s mission by stripping away institutional expertise and destabilizing staffing.

“These actions weaken the Bureau by stripping away critical expertise and destabilizing the workforce, undermining trust in leadership and jeopardizing the Bureau’s ability to meet its recruitment goals,” the association said in a statement.
