2024 Heating Up

CHRISTIE 2024: Former NJ Governor to Announce Presidential Bid Next Week; Report

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is preparing to launch a White House bid. According to a report from The Daily Caller, the Garden State Gov is expected to announce next week.

Sources tell The Caller he will make it official on Tuesday in New Hampshire at a town hall at Saint Anselm College —a super PAC has already been formed.

It will be a “non-traditional campaign that is highly focused on earned media, mixing it up in the news cycle and engaging Trump,” a source familiar told the DCNF. “Will not be geographic dependent, but nimble.”

Tell It Like It Is PAC will be run by Brian Jones, former adviser to John McCain and Mitt Romney’s campaigns for the White House in 2008 and 2012, DCNF reports.

“Governor Christie has proven he’s unafraid to tell it like it is and is willing to confront the hard truths that currently threaten the future of the Republican Party,” Jones said in a statement provided to the DCNF. “Now more than ever we need leaders that have the courage to say not what we want to hear, but what we need to hear.”

Christie launched a failed bid for president in 2016. After dropping out, the former NJ gov wrote the following message:

Running for president is the most extraordinary thing I’ve ever done in my life and I leave this race without an ounce of regret. I’m so proud of the campaign we ran, the people that ran it with me and all those who gave us their support and confidence along the way. Mary Pat and I thank our supporters for the extraordinary display of loyalty, friendship, understanding and love.

The campaign is over but the fight goes on. I will continue to fight for my belief that government needs to once again work for the people, not for the people who work for the government. I will continue to reinforce what I have always believed – that speaking your mind matters, that experience matters, that competence matters and that it will always matter in leading our nation.
