CHICAGO MAYOR on MURDERS: President Not Really ‘Committed to Helping Us Deal with Violence’

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.14.20

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot deflected growing criticism of her handling of the city’s historic murder rate; claiming President Trump isn’t really “committed” to helping the Windy City’s problem with gun crime.

“If the president was really committed to helping us deal with our violence, he would do some easy things … He would push to make sure that people who were banned from getting on airplanes can’t get guns,” Lightfoot told MSNBC.

Lightfoot confused millions of residents in her city Tuesday; bizarrely deploying a ‘Census Cowboy’ as murders and shootings terrify citizens.

“Giddy up, Chicago. I’m calling on the Census Cowboy to help improve our Census response rates across Chicago. Make the Census Cowboy proud by filling out the Census today at http://my2020census.gov,” posted Lightfoot on Twitter.

Lightfoot continued to deflect criticism of her administration’s response to the city’s spiraling gun violence this week; blaming a lack of “federal strategy” to curb the shootings.

“We have got to make sure that we do a better job of taking guns out of the hands of criminals,” Lightfoot said Friday on MSNBC Live With Stephanie Ruhle. “We have to have a federal policy on background checks and making sure that dangerous people are not able to go across the border to states like Indiana and get military-grade weapons in quantities and then bring them back to the streets and shoot people up. That’s what’s happening.”

Shootings in May spiked 71% in 2020.

“There’s way too many illegal guns on our streets, and we can’t fight that fight alone,” she said. “We got to have a federal strategy on this. We’re going to continue to do what we can do. We’re going to continue to make sure that we are flooding these dangerous hot spots with resources to make sure that we keep our communities safe, but we’re fighting a losing battle. If we don’t have a federal partnership on restricting access to guns in the hands of dangerous criminals, we’ve got to have partnership on that.”

“Violence is crimes of poverty, violence is crimes of people feeling like they have no hope,” Lightfoot said. “When we see young men feeling they’re like only destiny is to be on a corner on somebody’s drug spot, we got to change that around and let them know that their future actually can and should be in careers and college, but we’ve got to make those kinds of investments to make that real. … We’ve got to the find the resources, and we have them, to uplift neighborhoods.”

GANGLAND: Giuliani Says Chicago Murders ‘DIRECT RESULT’ of ‘Democratic Rule’

posted by Hannity Staff - 8.07.18

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani unloaded on Chicago’s Rahm Emanuel this week, saying his city’s outrageous murder rate and gang violence was a “direct result” of Democratic policies dating back decades.

Giuliani slammed Emanuel on social media just days after Chicago’s gang violence spiraled out of control; leaving twelve people dead and over 70 injured in just a 48-hour window.

“Chicago murders are direct result of one party Democratic rule for decades. Policing genius Jerry McCarthy can do for Chicago what I did for NYC. He was one of the architects of Compstat. Slashed homicides over 70%. Tens of thousands of lives saved,” tweeted Rudy.

Chicago’s deadly weekend prompted Emanuel and the city’s top police officers to hold emergency meetings, eventually urging “neighborhoods” to “step up” and help stem the deadly clashes between rival gang members.

CHICAGO BURNING: City Officials Blame THE WEATHER for Sudden MURDER Spike

posted by Hannity Staff - 8.07.18

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the city’s top law enforcement officials urged the public to remain calm as the region’s crime crisis spiraled out of control this week; suggesting “hot temperatures” was the main reason behind the recent spike in murders.

“When it’s very hot outside, we have multiple areas with crowds. … An offender, or some type of rival gang sees a large group of people,” said Chief of Patrol Fred Waller. “They take advantage of that opportunity, and they shoot into a crowd, no matter who they hit.”

Mayor Emanuel became visibly emotional while speaking on the Windy City’s South Side Monday, saying “We have a heavy heart. Our souls are burdened.”

“What we saw this weekend, it just rips at everything that I believe in,” added Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson.

The press conference came just hours after the city struggled to come to terms with a stunning spike in violence in a small 48-hour period, with 12 people dead and over 70 injured in gang warfare throughout Chicago.
