The political and violent crime crisis sweeping Chicago escalated this week when a woman claims she called 911 two times and received no answer; raising serious new concerns over safety and security across the nation’s third largest city.
“At least seven rings felt like eternity – a Chicago woman said she called 911 for help and no one answered,” reports CBS Chicago. “And as CBS 2’s Dana Kozlov reported, the woman, Denise Conroy, said it happened twice.”
“Nobody answered the phone, six or seven times, I believe. And I waited a few minutes and I tried them again – same thing,” Conroy said.
“It enraged me,” Conroy said. “It enraged me.”
“A representative of the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications said there was a high call volume at the time of Conroy’s calls, but they would have been answered if she had stayed on the line,” adds CBS.
Chicago’s famous Mount Sinai hospital temporarily shut its doors to new patients last weekend; with doctors and first responders totally overwhelmed after 51 shootings occurred during a single weekend.
“Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago was forced to temporarily close its doors to new patients over the weekend after shootings and accidents throughout the Illinois city overwhelmed emergency medical officials,” reports Fox News.
“The hospital, located on the city’s west side, went on bypass at 4:30 a.m. Sunday and were off bypass status by 6:30 a.m.,” adds Fox. “‘Bypass’ is a term used for when a hospital asks that emergency vehicles, like ambulances, pass their facility and bring patients to other locations.”

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot stunned a City Council meeting Wednesday; calling the Fraternal Order of Police boss a “clown” on a hot microphone.
“It’s no secret that Mayor Lightfoot does not get along with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP),” reports Fox News. “However, it was still surprising when, during the City Council meeting, she was caught on a microphone insulting the group’s second in command.”

Lori Lightfoot weighed-in last weekend on her city’s unprecedented gang violence; blaming nearby Indiana for the flow of guns into the region.
“Previously we had a law enforcement first and only strategy and it wasn’t working. It’s not working when you talk about neighborhoods where the unemployment rate is 25% or higher. It’s not working when you think about the fact that in many communities, 90% or more of residents are depending on public assistance and where neighborhoods haven’t been invested in, where there’s no real legitimate economic activity,” said Lightfoot.
“The fact that you can cross the border, go into Indiana and purchase military-grade weapons at any number with no background check is a terrible thing, not only for a city but look at the devastation that gun violence is wreaking every single day in our community,” she added.

Lightfoot confirmed last week that her city will not comply with any future immigration raids; blocking ICE agents from accessing the police department’s vast databases.
“Chicago is and will always be a welcoming city that will never tolerate ICE tearing our families apart,” said Lightfoot at a press conference Wednesday.
“The Chicago Police Department will not cooperate with ICE. That means that they will not team up with ICE to detain any resident. We’ve also cut off access from ICE to any CPD databases and that will remain permanent,” she added.
CHICAGO CHAOS: 2 Mothers Involved in Anti-Gang Movement Shot Dead During Violent Weekend
Two mothers active in Chicago’s anti-gang movement were shot and killed during a weekend that saw 9 murders and 39 separate shootings across the nation’s third largest city.
“Two women who volunteered for an anti-violence group trying to stop gun violence in Chicago were among those shot to death in weekend violence,” reports Fox News. “Chantell Grant and Andrea Stoudemire were both mothers in addition to volunteers for the group ‘Mothers Against Senseless Killings’ that worked with other moms to thwart violence on the city’s South Side.
“Both were working as peacekeepers at a corner where members of the group often stood watch in the neighborhood of Englewood on Friday night when they were shot dead after someone opened fire from an SUV, according to police,” reports Fox.
Grant was a mother to three young children, Stoudemire a mother of two.
