Police arrested a suspect Monday afternoon after a white van plowed through a crowded pedestrian street in downtown Toronto; with law enforcement descending on the scene and local authorities shutting down nearby subway stations.
“Cops initially said eight to 10 people were hit near Yonge Street and Finch Avenue just before 1:30 p.m., but they later clarified it was too early to confirm the number of injuries,” reports Fox News. “After striking the pedestrians, the van fled the scene.”

A local resident who witnessed the carnage said the driver appeared calm as he intentionally drove his vehicle into the packed crowd; adding that he “witnessed a few people pass away in front” of him as the chaotic scene unfolded.
“[The driver] was definitely in control of what he was doing…he knew what he was doing,” he added.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau saying we will learn more “in the coming hours.”
“We’re just learning about the situation in Toronto now. Our hearts go out to anyone affected,” said Trudeau. “Obviously we’re going to have more to learn and more to say in the coming hours.”
IT WAS ISIS: Terrorist Declared Allegiance to ISIS Before NYC Massacre
The suspect behind Tuesday’s devastating truck-attack in lower Manhattan left behind a would-be suicide note in the cabin of the vehicle, declaring his allegiance to the Islamic State and writing, “ISIS Lives Forever.”
Eight people were killed and 11 were seriously injured when 29-year-old Uzbekistan native Sayfullo Saipov rammed his rented pick-up truck into pedestrians and bicyclists in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood.
According to NBC News, Saipov left behind the ISIS-inspired writings in the hopes that he would be killed by law enforcement during the attack. After crashing into a school bus, the terrorist ran through the streets of lower Manhattan, screaming “Allahu Akbar” while holding a paint-ball gun and a BB pistol.
Saipov was shot in the abdomen and is recovering at a local hospital.
The NYPD and FBI believe the suspect is an Uber driver currently residing in New Jersey with his wife and three children.
“We are horrified by this senseless act of violence. Our hearts are with the victims and their families. We have reached out to law enforcement to provide our full assistance,” an Uber Spokesman said.
PARIS ATTACK: Car Slams Into Soldiers in the French Capital
A massive manhunt is underway in France for a motorist who intentionally drove his automobile into a group of soldiers in an upscale neighborhood just outside the French capitol, reports the Guardian.
The incident occurred early Wednesday in the Levallois-Perret neighborhood north of Paris, when a car plowed into a group of soldiers stationed at a nearby barracks, injuring six members of the 35th infantry regiment.
According to the local Mayor, eyewitnesses told police that a dark-colored BMW appeared to be waiting nearby for the soldiers to emerge from the building and then sped down a wrong-way street towards the service members.
“It’s without doubt a deliberate act … This vehicle was waiting for them,” he said. “The BMW accelerated very quickly the moment they came out. This happened in the middle of the town. It happened very quickly.
The soldiers were operating under France’s “Operation Sentinelle,” the military campaign that placed roughly 10,000 soldiers on French soil following a string of deadly, ISIS terror attacks that rocked the country in recent years.
“Security forces are actively seeking the perpetrator, who is on the run. The ongoing probe will determine his motives and the circumstances in which he acted,” said France’s Defense Minister.
