Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray said Tuesday on Hannity that he will seek the death penalty against Tyler Robinson, who made his first court appearance after being charged in the killing of Charlie Kirk.
Gray explained the decision: “The death penalty is not always needed in all murder cases, but in this case Robinson had put others at risk of death, which is why it had been introduced.”
Asked by Hannity if additional charges could be filed, Gray said it was “certainly possible” as investigators pursue further leads.
At a press conference earlier in the day, Gray told reporters: “Again, we don’t have any information at this point of additional suspects, but I know that our law enforcement agencies are continuing to follow leads.”
Gray added that the notice of intent to seek the death penalty was his call as prosecutor. “The decision to do so was made independently as county attorney, based solely on the available evidence and circumstances and nature of the crime.”
