Venezuela’s socialist government confirmed Tuesday that a group of “military traitors” were actively attempting to overthrow Nicolas Maduro’s regime in Caracas; saying opposition leader Juan Guaido is currently in the capital surrounded by a group of “men in uniform.”
The President of Colombia threw his full support behind Guado hours after violence erupted just miles from Maduro’s residence; saying “We call the military and the people of #Venezuela to be on the right side of history, rejecting the dictatorship and usurpation of Maduro; uniting in search of freedom, democracy and institutional reconstruction, headed by @AsambleaVE and the President @jguaido.”

ON THE BRINK: Venezuela’s Guaido Leads ‘MILITARY UPRISING’ Against Maduro’s Socialist Regime
Venezuela’s opposition leader Juan Guaido took to the streets Tuesday alongside fellow activists and some members of the military in protest of Nicolas Maduro’s socialist regime; raising new questions over the future of the once oil-rich nation.
“Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó took to the streets with activist Leopoldo Lopez and a small contingent of heavily armed soldiers early Tuesday in a bold and risky call for the military to rise up and oust socialist leader Nicolas Maduro,” reports the Associated Press.
“I want to tell the Venezuelan people: This is the moment to take to the streets and accompany these patriotic soldiers,” said Lopez. “Everyone should come to the streets, in peace.”
“It’s now or never,” said a recently defected soldier.
Maduro has routinely blamed his government’s total failure on the United States; claiming President Trump has launched “electronic warfare” against Venezuela.

PARADISE LOST: Venezuela’s Guaido Makes Direct ‘Appeal’ to Maduro's Army Ahead of Nationwide Protests
Venezuela’s opposition leader Juan Guaido launched a “direct appeal” to the nation’s armed forces over the weekend; urging Maduro’s soldiers to defect hours before May Day protests are poised to sweep his country.
“Venezuela’s opposition leader Juan Guaido used his latest mass rally on Saturday to reiterate an appeal to the army to end its support for Nicolas Maduro’s regime, and announced massive Mayday protests to oust the embattled president,” reports Yahoo News.
“Time is passing and the wait cannot be eternal,” Guaido told the crowd, adding “a historic opportunity” is “resting” on his people’s “shoulders.”
Socialist President Nicolas Maduro has routinely deflected criticism of his regime’s total failure; accusing the United States of launching an “electric warfare” against his country.
