CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN': Newsom DITCHES High Speed Rail, Says Too Expensive, Won't Return $3.5B

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.12.19

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced Tuesday his government will abandon the state’s highly-touted high-speed rail link connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco; saying the project would likely cost too much money.

“I have nothing but respect for Governor Brown’s and Governor Schwarzenegger’s vision. I share it,” Newsom said. “But let’s be real. The current project, as planned, would cost too much and take too long.”

“The Democratic governor acknowledged critics who want the state to abandon the project entirely, but said he doesn’t want to waste the billions already spent on the project, nor does he want to return $3.5 billion the state has received in federal funding,” writes the Sacramento Bee.

CALIFORNIA CHAOS: Gavin Newsom Calls for Free Healthcare for Region's ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS

posted by Hannity Staff - 8.28.18

Democratic candidate for Governor of California Gavin Newsom raised eyebrows across the state this week; calling for a universal healthcare program to cover millions of illegal immigrants residing in the region.

Newsom was speaking on the left-leaning “Pod Save America” podcast when he weighed-in on his fellow Democrats proposal for a “Medicare for All” system; saying a universal healthcare scheme should apply to every person -regardless of immigration status- living in California.

“I did universal health care when I was mayor– fully implemented, regardless of pre-existing condition, ability to pay, and regardless of your immigration status. San Francisco is the only universal health care plan for all undocumented residents in America. Very proud of that,” Newsom said. “I’d like to see that extended to the rest of the state.”

CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN’: Gov. Newsom SUES Upscale City over ‘Lack of Affordable Housing’

posted by Hannity Staff - 1.25.19

Governor Gavin Newsom announced this week his plans to sue an upscale California city after they refused to construct a certain amount of “affordable housing” within its limits; accusing the local government of “standing in the way” and escalating the regions’ homeless crisis.

Newsom’s administration is poised to sue Huntington Beach, a wealthy neighborhood on the outskirts of Los Angeles; claiming they’re “standing in the way of affordable housing production and refusing to meet regional housing needs.”

“The suit, the first of its kind under a state law passed last year, will seek to require the city to amend its housing plan for the building of more units accessible to people of all income levels, according to the governor’s office,” writes the Wall Street Journal.

“The state doesn’t take this action lightly,” said the governor. “The huge housing costs and sky-high rents are eroding quality of life for families across this state.”
